Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is a policy of the Canadian government aimed at attracting international students and retaining them as skilled workers. This type of visa allows graduates to work full-time in any field in Canada after completing their studies, without needing a job offer from a local employer. However, this assumes that your study permit is still valid.
Through the Post-Graduation Work Permit program, you can obtain an open work permit for up to three years. The exact validity period of this work permit is based on the length of the program you graduated from. This permit allows graduates to work full-time anywhere in Canada without any restrictions on the type of work.
Conditions for Post-Graduation Work Visa
Education in Academic or Technical Program: You must complete your educational program at a Canadian educational institution or university. The duration of the program must be at least 8 months.
Obtaining Diploma or Certificate: You must graduate and receive your diploma or certificate from the relevant university or institution.
Legal Residency Status: You must have legal residency status throughout your studies in Canada.
Full-Time Enrollment: During the educational program, you must study full-time.
Graduation from the Educational Program: You must graduate from your educational program and obtain an official letter from the university to prove completion of studies.
Graduation from a Reputable Institution: You must graduate from a reputable Canadian government or private institution operating under local regulations.
Full-Time Studies in the Last Term: If you meet all conditions except full-time enrollment in the last term of your studies, you can still apply for a PGWP.
By meeting these conditions, you can apply for a work permit after graduation in Canada. Make sure to obtain up-to-date and verified information from the official website of Canadian immigration, as conditions and procedures may have changed.
